Hello there, I know its a bit late, this update is about ten days late, sorry about that but there have been a few developments to do with aircraft painting. I am going to paint two more Hornet pictures. I was going to do this anyway, just needed a little push. Some interest in Sea Hornets surfaced due to an advert I have in the "100 Great British aircraft and aviation milestones" magazine published alongside the "Aeroplane ". I have an ad in there featuring the single Hornet painting, by the way that magazine is in most Hight street SMITHS. Pictures of the Royal Navy version of the DH Hornet are a must because I have already done RAF machines so the Sea Hornet had to be done. The first picture is going to be a single aircraft above the sea with some shipping below, (possibly the Battleship Vanguard). The aircraft will be the "clean" version, that is no Radar nose dome and other bits that spoilt the look. The plan is at the moment to paint the aircraft in the blue grey upper surface and duck egg underneath, it will of course be a real aircraft with the correct numbers and markings on it. I think the size will be about 20 x 24 inches (500 x 600mm approx) on canvas, and if I can get started within the next few days I may be able to complete it either by the end of the month or early next month. The second picture is much more complicated. The composition I am planning is as follows... Canvas size 30 x20 or even 36 x 24 inches. Two Sea Hornets above the sea, both aircraft are banking around towards you (the viewer) the nearest aircraft will be very close, good for loads of detail. and the second tucked in behind, maybe a couple of hundred feet below and further back will be a huge aircraft carrier with its plane guard destroyer following and then off to one side but not too far away will be no less than the Battleship Vanguard. This picture could take months but I am going to start work as soon as the right information on the aircraft carrier is available, I have been getting some fantastic help, various people have sent me photos of the ships from different angles and this is all adding to the reference file. Its getting very interesting, Great ships and great aircraft. Love it!
I will keep the diary informed of progress.
Of course this means that the unfinished Star Wars picture will have to wait a bit longer!
Oh, and so will TITANIC!
Well thats it for the moment
I still have a few other notes to add about future pictures which I will put in the diary in a few days
Thank You

1st November update

Hello there, Here we go with a new update. I have a number of things to tell you this time and hope that you find this informative.
First. As promised the Heavy Horse pictures are now on the site and looking ok. That is a pair of paintings that have never really been displayed before, so for me its nice to see them on show.

Two more pictures have been added to MARINE. Picture 0730 Dutch fishing boat a watercolour which I painted a few years ago is at last on display. Its not been shown before, I hope you like it. There are no prints, this is just a one off original.
The other picture one display (number 0745) HM Ship in a Bay is another one off original, it was painted as an example for students to copy (evening sky scene) however I rambled on in class about painting a bigger version with more ships and a moon or sun included, and so managed to talk myself into doing just that, seeing that my students were expecting to see said picture I thought I had better get on with it. I worked away on it during the half term break, managing to get it finished by the Friday. I am very pleased with it. The picture is three times longer than 0745 and includes two of HM Ships with a large moon sinking down on the horizon which provides lots of the light. I had a very good frame standing by and now the picture looks right.
We will get a series of images of the finished picture on the site asap.

STAR WARS.
I have had an unfinished StarWars picture that has been hanging around for ages, and I think its about time I did something about it. Us artist types do that you know. we get half way into a picture then wonder off for a couple of years or so, sometimes its because the painting goes wrong somewhere (imagined or real) and one goes off and has a good old sulk about it.
Anyway the picture is of a group or X wing fighters racing along looking for a fight. A bit like a flight of Spitfires doing the same. What this painting needs is a lot more work on the fighters with a couple more added and a knock your socks off background. We will post a picture of the unfinished painting on the site so you can see what I mean.

Although I have more things to talk about I think thats it for this entry. I will update the diary again within 10 days to talk about future pictures.

Thanks for reading this

General news
Good day and good evening to all you good folk out there who are taking the trouble to look at my web site, I hope you like some of the pictures on display. There are more pictures to add in due course, for example in the Fine Art pages I have a couple of original paintings (watercolours) of heavy horses to go on, both pictures are mounted and framed behind glass, the glass might be a problem with the post but they are nice pictures and worth a look. Hope to have them on display within a couple of weeks.
There are several more marine pictures to follow and these will appear soon as well
Aviation. Those two Hornet picture have created quite a lot of interest. The painting of three aircraft over northern Singapore during the early 1950s was a commission and went to a guy who used to service Hornets at that time on that squadron in Singapore. The other picture of a single aircraft was painted at the same time just because I fell in love with this beautiful aircraft. It was sold to a real Hornet pilot who in fact was the first pilot to see the picture. Do you know that in 1946 this fabulous plane could reach 20,000 feet in under five minutes, and had a top speed of nearly 500mph! Prints are a distinct possibility and I will keep the diary informed!
Oh a bit more on Marine.
I have a painting of TITANIC in very slow progress, heaven knows when I will get that one finished, in the picture she is moving away from you about 150meters away and at about 45 degrees, so you can see right down the side, the view is from just above the water so the ship appears very big. And my problem is with the clouds, it will be ok in the end though

Thats it for now, I hope find this interesting,
Thank You
